Nordicomics.info - New Nordic comics!

The Nordicomics.info exhibition explores the contemporary Nordic comics through debuting artists from Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.

What do Nordic countries have in common? Is it reasonable to talk about the Nordic comics on the whole? The Nordic comics cultures do have similar traits. New artists and publishers are constantly emerging. The field is lively and international in all of the countries, with all kinds of different activities. However, the artists often remain unknown outside their own country.

The Nordicomics.info exhibition is touring in Nordic countries. The first exhibition was held in Helsinki 4th to 29th of August with a workshop. The exhibition will tour in Oslo, Stockholm. Different adjoin events will take place alongside the exhibition with the artist included in the exhibition and the local artist. Now the exhibition travels to St. Petersburg and complement the work of the St. Petersburg authors.

Yuichi Yokoyama (Japan), Jason (Norway), Francois Ayroles (France), Pieter De Poortere (Belgium), Nicolas Mahler (Austria), Ibn Al Rabin (Switzerland), Erik Kriek (Holland), Zakhar Yaschin (Russia).

Yuichi Yokoyama, Ibn Al Rabin, Erik Kriek, Захар Ящин are guests of the festival.

Exhibition will be at the museum of Anna Akhmatova at The Fountain House from September 23 till October 12.

Nikitin VS Auclin – an exhibition of two artists who like Russian writer Daniil Kharms and work with his texts. One of them lived and worked in St. Petersburg, the other – in Paris. Each author has his visual style for telling stories Harms – in the first case is black and white naive graphic, in the second is a technique color applications.

Exhibition will be in The F.M.Dostoevsky Literary-Memorial Museum from September 25 till October 13.

Painter, author of installations, the organizer of the shares, a historian and theorist of contemporary art, and finally, the comic artists with more than 30 years experience. The works of George Litichevsky are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, in Kolodzei Art Fund and Highland Park (USA), and in the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma (Finland).

His exhibition will be from September 17 till October 9 in the Art Gallery «Anna Nova» (str Zhukovsky, 28 )

Anke Feuchtenberger is a guest of Boomfest. Her exhibition will be from September 19 till October 10 in Art-space «Bye Bye Ballet», Belinskogo st.9.

Julia Grigorieva – a young artist and illustrator, was born in 1985 in Rostov-on-Don, lives and works in St. Petersburg. In 2008 she graduated with honors St. Petersburg State University, Department of “Graphic Design”.

In 2009, Julia became the owner of Grand Prix of Boomfest competition. In 2010, she participated in the group exhibition “Once upon a time”, which was held at comics and illustrations festival in Bastia (France).

Julia Grigorieva Exhibition will be held in the gallery “100 SVOIKH” from September 23 till October 17.

The outstanding French artist Edmond Baudoin was born in 1943 at Nice. His first book was published when he was already 38 years before that, he worked as bookkeper. Since then he has published over 50 books, traveled with exhibitions and lectures around the world, received awards for best script and a best comics book on festival in Angouleme. Also he was a professor of art.

Edmond Baudoin is a guest of festival.
His exhibition will be at the museum of Anna Akhmatova at The Fountain House from September 23 till October 12.

Another French exhibition to be held in September. The exhibition will present all Grand Prix winner in the biggest European comics festival Angouleme. Representatives of the festival will visit Boomfest – art director Benoit Mouchart and coordinator of the Russian-French program Nicolas Finet. In addition, the winner of the Grand Prix 2010 french artist Baru will come also.

This project is part of the programming of the Year France-Russia.
