Gabrielle Bell is a living proof that self-taught individuals can become highly successful artists. She grew up in the American province and did not receive any university degrees in art. Gabrielle began to publish her first fanzines after she took art classes at the City College of San Francisco. Almost immediately after moving to New York in 2003, she won an Ignatz award for “Lucky”, a series of autobiographical comics. In 2008, her comics “Cecil and Jordan in New York” served as a basis for the film “Interior Design” by the cult French director Michel Gondry. Gabrielle’s Comics were included in the anthology Best American Comics three times.
