21 сентября 20.00 – открытие выставки Доминика Хайлига, Германия (Кафе «Стирка», ул. Казанская, 26, м. Невский проспект, Сенная площадь);
22 сентября 17.30 – открытие выставок Мигеля Гаярдо, Испания и Last Match, Латвия (Музей В. В. Набокова, СПбГУ, ул. Большая Морская, 47, м. Невский проспект, Садовая);
22 сентября 19.00 – открытие основной площадки с выставками Жюли Дюсет (Канада), Le Monde diplomatique en bande dessinée (Франция) и лучшие конкурсные работы (Малый зал ЦВЗ «Манеж», наб. канала Грибоедова, 103, м. Садовая, Сенная площадь);
23 сентября 18.30 – открытие выставки Уго Пратта, Италия (Центр искусства и музыки ЦГПБ им. В.В. Маяковского, Невский пр. 20, м. Невский проспект);
23 сентября 20.00 – открытие выставки Стефано Риччи, Италия (ЦИ Невский 8, Невский пр., 8, м. Невский проспект).

Кроме того,
23 сентября с 10.00 до 18.00 в Библиотеке книжной графики (ул. 7-я красноармейская, 30, вход со двора, код 150, м. Технологический институт) пройдет конференция “Комиксы и публичные библиотеки”, а 23, 24 и 25 сентября с 12.00 до 18.00 в Малом зале ЦВЗ «Манеж» (канал Грибоедова 103, м. Садовая, Сенная площадь) состоится серия лекций, презентаций, мастер-классов и конечно книжная ярмарка.

Russian exhibitions

On Friday, September 16 at 19.00 at the gallery «ART re.FLEX» (prospect Bakunina, 5, m. Ploshchad Vosstaniya) will open 2 Russian exhibition: «One Day in history» – a project with the magazine «Russian Reporter» and «Forbidden Art» – exhibition of Moscow artists Victoria Lomasko and Anton Nikolaev.

In addition, on September 17 at 19.00 in the bookstore, «Vse svobodny» (nab.r. Moyka, 28, the second courtyard, the code on the gate 489, m. Nevsky Prospect) will be a presentation of the book “Forbidden Art” and a meeting with artists.

So next Saturday we start 5th international comics festival Boomfest. September 10 at 17.00 in the library of book graphics, (ul. 7 krasnoarmeyskaya, 30, entrance from the yard, code 150, m. Tekhnologicheskiy institut) will open a German exhibition «Comics, Manga & Co – the new culture of German comics».

Special guest is one of the most interesting artists of Germany Martin tom Dieck, meeting which will take place September 7 at 20:00 in the library of the Goethe-Institute (nab. reki Mojki 58, 1 etage, m. Sadovaya).

Entrance free, you are welcome!

Hugo Pratt

The Year of Russia-Italy inaugurate exhibition of the maestro Hugo Pratt, the author of the cult adventure comic series «Corto Maltese», created in 1967 – 1989. Every year around the world, this series reprinted in large print runs, and a visual image of the hero appears on various products.

The exhibition will be held at the Center for Art and Music from September 23 to October 10.

The festival organizers are grateful to the company «Cong SA» and company «Soyuz Video» for their help.

The festival will host a conference devoted to the work, Hugo Pratt, for which we have invited an expert from France, Michel Pierre, the author of several books dedicated to the works of maestro.

Le Monde diplomatique

«Le Monde diplomatique en bande dessinée» – an exhibition devoted to a special edition of the French geopolitical journal «Le Monde diplomatique», which appeared in France in November 2010 and which represents the political comics of authors from different countries.

Participants of exhibition:
Juhyun Choi (South Korea), Gianluca Costantini & Elettra Stamboulis (Italie), Joe Dog (South Africa), Jochen Gerner & Frédéric Lordon (France), Victor Gurrey (France), Joanna Hellgren (Sweden), Grégory Jarry & François Ruffin (France), Mazen Kerbaj (Liban), Maximilien Le Roy & Michel Warschawski (France), Mad Meg (France), Lisa Mandel (France), Morvandiau (France), Fabrice Neaud (France).

The exhibition will be held from September 22 to October 16 in Small Hall of the «Manege» Central Exhibition Hall.

Juhyun Choi, Joanna Hellgren и Morvandiau are guests of the festival.

Comics, manga and co

This year’s “Goethe Institute” will present a special project – traveling exhibition of German comics «Comics, Manga & Co», which will show works of the main comics artists of Germany over the past 25 years. Some of the artists already visited Boomfest with exhibitions and workshops.

Participants of exhibition: Mawil, Arne Bellstorf, Martin tom Dieck, Anke Feuchtenberger, Flix, Jens Harder, Sascha Hommer, Line Hoven, Ulf K., Reinhard Kleist, Isabel Kreitz, Christina Plaka, Henning Wagenbreth.

The exhibition will be held from 10 to 28 September in the library of book graphics.

Stefano Ricci

Stefano Ricci is an Italian illustrator and creator of comics with a unique way of working: he combines pencil, oil pastels and collage and really attacks the paper, often destroying the surface in the process. His drawings and comics have appeared in books and magazines like Libération, Les Inrockuptibles, Télérama, l’Humanité, la Repubblica, and Glamour. Ricci’s first illustrated book appeared in 1989, entitled Dottori (Metrolibri). In 1996, he made name with his first comic book: Tufo, with a scenario by Philippe De Pierpont (Amok).

Ricci has drawn for the theatre, dance and cinema and is involved in many artistic institutions. He currently teaches comic strip drawing and contemporary graphics in Hamburg, where he also lives. His work has been exhibited at comic festivals as much as in art galleries.

His exhibition will be held in the Art centre Nevsky 8 from September 23 to October 16.

Miguel Gallardo

Miguel Gallardo Spanish illustrator and comic artist. As an illustrator Miguel works with newspapers and magazines «la Vanguardia», «El Público», «Herald Tribune», «NYT» and «The New Yorker». During his career, Miguel has received two awards of the international comics festival in Barcelona, ​​two prizes of Society of Newspaper Design, the prize «Serra D’Or» for the book «¿Que le pasa a este niño?»and premium «APIC» for his illustrations for newspaper «la Vanguardia».

In 2007, the publishing house «Astiberri» was published comics of Miguel, “Maria and Me» (Maria y yo) – a book that tells about travels and adventures of the artist and his thirteen-year old daughter Maria, who suffers autism. In 2008, this book has been awarded the National Prize of the Government of Catalonia. And in 2009 was created by the documentary film based on the book, which won many awards at various festivals.

His exhibition will be held in the Vladimir Nabokov Museum from September 22 to October 16.

Miguel Gallardo is guest of the festival.
