Search is a graphic novel for teens. The story is about the Jewish girl Esther, who fled from the Nazis to Holland and survived by hiding in different villages. Unfortunately, her parents were not so lucky – they were sent to a concentration camp. Esther does not know anything about the last months of their lives. Many years later, Esther tells the story to her grandson. With his help, she finds an old friend, and finally learns how her parents met their fate at Auschwitz. The book was created by Eric Heuvel and Anna Frank House in 2007 and has been translated into several languages. This year it is coming out in Russian.

Henning Wagenbreth was born in 1962 in East Germany. In 1987, he graduated from Berlin Academy of Arts, and starting from 1994 he has been working as a professor at the Department of Visual Communication at the Graduate School of Arts in Berlin. He began his work in the late 80’s in creative group Glowing Future together with Anke Feuchtenberger, where they experimented with different visual effects and printing techniques. Wagenbreth is a multi-faceted artist, designer, illustrator and comic artists. Books with his illustrations have been called the most beautiful books in the world, and even the “publishing miracle”.

Drozophile is both the name of the publishing house, a screen-printing studio and a series of anthologies. It appeared in 1996 in Geneva and was founded by Christian Humbert-Droz. While not following a clear editorial policy, Drozophile publishes only a few books a year, but all of them are made with a lot of love and care. The authors published by the house are Anna Sommer, Helge Reumann, Frederic Peteers, Blanquet, Exem, Edmond Baudoin, Alex Baladi and many others.

Nobrow is a young independent publishing house that specializes in comics, illustrations and other forms of graphic art. The main idea of Nobrow is to publish books of high quality in terms of both form and content. Among the authors of the publishing house are British and foreign authors – Jon McNaught, Luke Pearson, Mikkel Sommer, Brecht Vandenbroucke, Blexbolex, Atak and many others.

Traditionally, our festival includes a contest of comics. Every year we receive about 200 works from around the world. This year the topic of the contest is Traditions. Artists are invited to draw a complete history of no more than 3 pages. We select one winner for the age groups Children and Teenagers. In the Adults group we have 3 winners – one for the categories Best Story, one for Best Graphics and the Grand Prix. Winner of the Grand Prix is awarded the opportunity to have a personal exhibition at the next festival.
